As promised, here is the review of Pinterest, not from a marketing strategist but from a user' s perspective...Pinterest, the Review. After last Thursday's Blog post "Pinterest, the next Facebook?" where much was said about what the new social network, info basically retrieved from the internet, today, let's see Pinterest, from a user's point of view! So, first, there's this major issue about the initial profile creation. If you do not own a Facebook or Twitter account, wait for it, you cannot opt for Pinterest as social network! Yes, during the "Signing up process" you have to go through either of those above mentioned networks to be able to create a profile on Pinterest! So, what happens if, like those so-called Facebook outcasts who proclaim that they aren't on Facebook because there's too little privacy, want to share pictures which aren't theirs but which they want to share anyway!? Well, there's simply no way! Get on Facebook first, lose your privacy and then start pinning! lol But let's be positive about it... Click on the picture to redirect to my Pinterest profile! Well, for a start-up business, Pinterest seems to be THE must-have since it can serve as a free online billboard for hundreds to see, like or repin (share). Indeed, let's say you own a photography small business and want to get some recognition online. Then simply create a Pinterest profile, Pin your shots from your website and let the magic of repins do the trick! Oh by the way, Pinterest does not allow you to Pin pictures from Facebook or Twitter, so if you were looking for a means to spread your own profile pictures in a vain effort of becoming 'famous' (LOL), well, AINT GONNA WO-ORK! And one more thing, you can only Pin pictures from internet, so let's stay you were this photographer, if you didn't upload your pictures on a personal website or some other online media, then you're screwed! Pinterest also has a Gifts feature! Indeed, making business have never before been simpler. Although I do not know the buying/selling process, it seems that you can simply state your price, location (where to get it) and this, again, sounds a lot like a HUGE advert space! You can choose between bands of prices such as $1-20, $20-50 etc. So, if there is any florist, this is your time to take a shot of your best flower bouquet and Pin it on Pinterest; oh and don't forget to state the price and your store location! EPIC : You can now Pin videos as well! This Pinterest is definitely another Facebook but without the collateral annoyances! So, if you have a song/advert/trailer to promote, now is your chance! Go for it! Although I believe it will be harder to actually make people want to watch your video, once it starts getting Likes and Repins, i'm sure word of mouth will do you good! Well, enough of this, time for you to join me on Pinterest and start pinning! Let me know what you thought by leaving comments or simply rate this article! Sine Cera
