This is it - 2011 is fading out fast while 2012 is looming in on us. True that the New Year's Eve is time for party and family reunions but let's spare a moment to ponder over what took us through the year; a moment to thank those who made you smile, laugh, live and love. Before the sun sets over 2011, before the moon rises one last time this year and before the stars give their final show, take a deep long breath on your roof, close your eyes and release all the bad energy. Time, in its ephemeral preciousness, waits for no one but a few seconds can be spared to ponder over the good memories from 2011. After all, we all have to take a step back in order to jump further...
MODE-K wishes you a very happy New Year and leaves with this note to be remembered : If the lift to success is out of order, take the stairs... P.S. See you next year!!! Sine Cera

_Hello there peeps! How many of you actually watched the last episode of Infozen for the year 2011? No worries, if you missed it, well... you didn't miss much - apart from a big laugh. Co-host Rishi Gopaul made the biggest faux-pas on prime time television just a few hours ago! Indeed, while talking about 2011's Hit songs, he came to offer a very personal pronunciation of famous R'n'B French Star Shy'm which is, OBVIOUSLY, pronounced 'shime' (as we all know!!) and not 'sheem' ! SERIOUSLY- how douche can MBC get ? Poor Mr. Gopaul, not to be blamed I guess, for proper information should have been passed down to him. Let's face it, we're talking of THE national broadcasting corporation, the sole television company of the island ; can they really afford to pass on such LOL things on TV!? In any case, at least they made us laugh because their last release for 2011 was nothing but a mix up of wishy-washy parts from previous episodes...why not call it a BEST OF then? It would have indeed been nicer for us to watch a "BEST OF" of the funniest moments on set or their laughing-out-loud television gaffes! Well, all we can do is wish them LOL (Of course, i mean Lots of Luck) for the future...let's hope 2012 brings change - and yes, I am talking about their clothes! Let me know what you thought of it. P.S. For those who wish to review the epic mispronunciation click on the link: http://www.mbcradio.tv/browse/local-productions/magazine-entertainment/infozen-34/ Sine Cera _Hiya peeps! It is true that once it opened its doors to Mauritians, Phoenix Les Halles instantly became the MUST-SEE of the island, particularly for the teen generation seeing in it as the perfect hang-out spot! But about 3 years after its grand opening on Saturday 25th October in 2008, the shopping mall has lost not only its shine and glimmer, but also its customers, crucial for the running of the whole complex... Empty parking lots, empty food court and stores closing down are all signs foreshadowing the commercial centre's sad but inevitable fate - doomsday is reaching faster than 2012 for Phoenix Les Halles! Even well-established brands like Maille Street are offering 70% discount on most items left in store (probably since quite some time!!) and if some can still open their shutters in the morning - namely Celio*, Bella Donna, Mr Price and Andre amongst others - many have simply left this expensive AND inefficient location.Let's face it, Phoenix Les Halles Commercial Centre is closing down... but can it really be used else way ? It has been rumored that the building will be converted to a Home Hub by next year. Still we wonder whether or not this conversion will do any good - especially when we know that Mauritians tend to spend more on clothing than on home accessory and decor. Yet, with a growing aesthetic-conscious community, a Home Hub sounds plausible... Do you think that the attractiveness of novelty towards Bagatelle Mall of Mauritius will last ? or will it slowly fade out and that the Les Halles fiasco be seen again... Please leave your comments :) Sine Cera Indeed, this is it people! The final days of 2011 are yet to pass before 2012 dawns on our paradise island, if it still is, that is :P
Mauritians have been rumored to have spent on the New Year purchases as if no economic downturn were hovering around us all - so says L'Express in the 25 December print. With the rising prices in our stores, both local and foreign brands, some believe we should sit back and buy less - is that even possible?! We've all been doing shopping, all been drooling in front of the ALDO shoes, although we didnt actually get them :P Point is, ALDO is, let's face it, expensive, but what about our local brand - Body n Soul ? Is it really something to go to in these times ? Is it reasonable to say that it's time we either stop buying there because prices are quite inappropriate or simply because, let's face it - everybody, EVERYBODY is going to be wearing that same cute flowery summer high-waisted skirt or those dark shorts ? Let me know what you think about this by leaving comments. Sine Cera Kelvin |
