This Monday, the quiet lives of Canadians were shaken up by the disqualification of bombshell Jenna Talackova for not being born female... This very unusual piece of news must have certainly been received with uproar in the LGBT community of Canada and across the world. As to how the beauty pageant admins came to know about this very delicate information is yet to be unveiled but fact remains that Miss Universe Canada contestant Jenna got disqualified - but the beauty queen wants to believe otherwise and here is what she says on her twitter "I’m disqualified, however I’m not giving up. I’m not going to just let them disqualify me over discrimination." So, who is right and who is wrong? Jenna Talackova _Apparently, she got kicked off competition for 'not meeting the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form." So, what requirement did she not meet? Did she not possess female genitalia? Well, the glam-doll did a 'sexual reassignment surgery' in 2010 which was totally legal! So, did she not have boobs? Well, urm, how to say it - difficult not to see them on the picture (right)! Well, clearly the reason behind her disqualification has got nothing to go with 'meeting requirements' when the Miss Universe Canada rules stipulate that the contestant should be of Canadian origin and be aged between 18 and 27 years old but merely with the fact that she was born male! So, this disqualification does account as discrimination right? Well, if the beauty queen says it was so, we might want to have the beauty pageant admins' point of view. They might fear bad public image (although we all know how Canada is supposed to be Nice America) and lose audience. Promoting the idea of man changing himself into a woman would certainly upset the most Puritans minds of the West. Beauty pageants are meant to promote Beauty for a Cause. This year's contest -accused of trans-phobia - could have instead used this to their advantage and chose a cause - for example - helping Transgender people enjoy equal human rights, etc. Chelsae Durocher -Miss Universe Canada 2011 winner But they kept saying that Jenna did write, on her entry form, that she was born female. I mean, let's face it, is there really a "Were you born male or female - tick as appropriate" on Miss Universe Canada entry form! Come on people! Even though she did say she was born female, a lot of transgender people do believe they were born with the wrong sex in their early childhood besides, were all the other participants 100% truthful about their 'status'? Did they never undergo plastic surgery at some point? Did they did not try lenses? How about last year's winner of the Miss Universe Canada beauty pageant Chelsae Durocher - can she affirm that she was born with these oh-so-gorgeous hair? Err, NO! Clearly, there was huge coloring session before that shot was taken! And oh, do I see hair extension? OMG - she should have been disqualified! This isn't her hair! Well, jokes apart, beautiful people, as Lady Gaga would sing "You were born this way, no matter gay, straight or bi, Lesbian, transgendered lives, [you are] on the right track baby"!
