The pictures were finally on Facebook and MODE-K did not lose time in trying to get in touch with the Fashion Designer Annabelle Fleury who was glad to open up... It's been nearly 3 weeks since Bank One held it's annual EMMA Awards to celebrate Mauritian women. The event, which was held at the Intercontinental Hotel at Balaclava, witnessed five women on top in different fields and what better way to celebrate women than showcasing designer clothing for women!? Indeed, as you might know, designers Annabelle Fleury, Anu Sumputh and Sweetie Ramlagun all presented their latest collections. So, here we are, with Annabelle Fleury who spared MODE-K a few moments to talk about her latest Ethno-Chic Spring/Summer 2012 Collection... The Interview... MODE-K No-No! With no intention to be mean, I personally would not pick any of those for my sister! These horizontal lines/straps with varying thicknesses look kind of awkward and add to that turquoise (something I've been promoting all summer BUT) and black and you get the perfect way-too-attention-getter outfit! No-No. About the two other outfits, well I simple do not connect with these trends. The you-let-some-skin-show is certainly not something I would promote. It reminds me of the early 2000s where Britney Spears would wear the shortest top and show off some skin! I mean, it's 2012 ! MODE-K yea-yea... Here are three looks from the Ethno-Chic collection which do not really qualify as 'WOWing' or No-No, but simple evoke the feeling of yea-yea...On the first one (left) seems wearable although the long-scarf/train/shawl is slightly too much. The middle one is certainly stunning at first sight, but ,to me, there is simply too much going-on on that bustier - the asymmetric cut, the shoulder-strap, the strap including 2 pairs of red-and-black thinner straps, and the fastener! As for the last one, well, I actually LOVE the cut and fluidity it gives the wearer but this opening at the waistline kills the buzz! Looking for more? Go to K-Capture for MODE-K Top Picks! Well, before going to the K-Capture Page, spare me a minute to leave comments or a vote! Sine Cera Disclaimer: Pictures are from the EMMA Nite, organized by BANK ONE. Well, I'm not trying to offend but isn't your taste a bit too 'mainstream'?

Haha, none taken! You are free to express your views just the way I did through this post. I do get what you say, but still, the cut-outs are not to my taste! The mustard-yellow is over-the-top nice, the purple is nice but dear Shax, do you think you would be totally at ease in the Jabalpur outfit? It's on the K-Capture. It's one of my TOP Picks, yet I do place myself in my women readers' shoes and emit doubts over its overall wear-ability due to the shawl-like drape-piece. Looking forward to hearing from you xoxo

Very true indeed. I can now better understand the collection and the reason behind the cut-out pieces (which, although I do get it now, is still not something I appreciate 100%). You are right to point out that there were a lot of cut-outs on the SS2012 runways. I actually love the Mao neck but it's just that I didn't deem the top fit for a night out for example - but that's my taste anyway. Again, like you rightly pointed out, my tastes differ significantly from your customers. I did LOVE some items though :) I hope this post was received as a mere reflection on this very structured collection! Thanks again from sparing MODE-K time.

It would have been much better if Annabelle had worked out a pleated skirt instead of a trousers for her purple outfit (inspired by saris).
