Savior Pictures - Hell yea! _ Here is to all of those who once in their lives used the easiest way out by resorting to what I call 'Savior Pictures' - those funny little 100% edited images with surprisingly fitting wordings to suit your needs : either that of bringing down someone or simply bringing down someone real hard! A friend of mine recently unveiled a website troll.me - a haven for souls in need of help while battling on a Facebook comment thread against one of those guys you don't even know but you still do it, because, let's face it - it's FUN! Yes, 'slamming down' someone, ANYONE, is a big pack of laughter while you're at it but, on second thought, when you wake up the following morning, get back on your Facebook and review the comments,we all have to admit that...well, it's still kind of hilarious -BUT, it's of no real significance! Alright, you 'LOL-ed' (laughed out loud) or TVR, as some might write (Trappe Ventre Riyer - our creole equivalent), with your friends for several 'breathless' minutes but apart from the free session of laughing therapy, what can you really achieve by sending someone rude/vulgar comments? Are we not killing a friend by making and enemy? Review your priorities, laugh harder, love stronger and LIVE better! And of course because I care about you readers so much, here is one of my all-time favorite that you can probably use in any battle thread and sure to 'laugh your ass out' while making sure you've got the upper hand! Here is the link to this Gaga Slam-Down. P.S. If you want to share your secret online sneak-out spot, feel free to enlighten us, souls in need of fresh 'savior pictures' ...Oh, and don't be shy to post your most ROFL 'savior picture' story! Sine Cera Hello hello dear readers! First of all, I would like to apologize for my being so silent these past few days! Don't blame me - blame my schedule! We all know how New Year rhymes with family lunches, lavish dinners et cetera but 2012 seems to be one of those super-filled agenda kind-of-years! Been out for late for dinners, birthday parties, more dinners and more parties while my day time was almost exclusively reserved for finding partner stores for YOU readers and some fashion consultancy/personal shopper!
As you probably know, I am currently looking for highly-styled charismatic young girls willing to have their picture uploaded for the whole of Mauritius to see - or at least, for those who read the blog! There is ample information on the Facebook Page for you girls who would be interested to get back to me. Simply mail me for any queries. Oh, and guess who I bumped into last Saturday in MONOPRIX Curepipe ??? The First Lady! YES - Mrs Veena Ramgoolam! Although we rarely see her wearing anything other than sarees for official ceremonies, far are we from the idea of seeing her wearing, let's say, a cute black dress. But that's actually exactly what she was wearing - simple but chic black knee-length dress. If that weren't for her two bodyguards who were far from being willing to let me use my camera, I would have saved you a picture! Aloha peeps! The New Year celebrations are slowly dying out and life is finally starting to get back to normal; let's face it, the jet-lagged after-party effect is a sticky one! Time to take the Christmas decorations off your tree, pack it back in its box or just throw it away if it hasn't rotten since now and clean up your wardrobe which most probably looks like it went hell and back after all the "Does this look good on my new jeans?" or the "Will that match my new pair of shoes?"
But taking out the vestiges of the festive season does NOT mean the party is over - it only means 'time to move on' to another season : the 'pre-back-to-school' time! Indeed, we're only a week away from the official school calendar kick-offs and those going back to being students truly need some relax time before hitting the school benches once again! Why not try a shopping trip to Port Louis -we know the weather is always hot there and we know you girls love sporting your mini shorts you just bought a few days ago! But if you cannot stand the heat and miss out on the interesting prices, Orchard Centre is an equally interesting spot to do your 'light' shopping. But do wait for the weekend, since rumour has it that some shops will have their shutters down until January 6th - so better go as from Friday! Stay tuned for some Discount Vouchers coming soon... Sine Cera First of all, THANK YOU Mauritius! Thank you for having voted for this song - which I, as most of you certainly do, hold close to my heart... Someone Like You, viewed by Wikipedia :"The pop ballad was inspired by a broken relationship of hers, and lyrically it speaks of Adele coming to terms with it. XL Recordings released the song as the second single from the album on 24 January 2011 in the United Kingdom and on 9 August 2011 in the United States. Accompanied only by a piano in the song, Adele sings about the end of the relationship with her ex-boyfriend. The song received positive reviews from music critics who chose the song as a highlight on the album and praised its simple sound. The lyrics and Adele's vocal performance in the song were also praised." Reality is, of course, far from this very formal, detached depiction of one of the most aesthetic songs to the ears. I believe the track to be not one of those record-breaking Hits simply because of excellent media coverage and a well-defined marketing strategy! It is one of those few songs to which we all relate. Each of us, even if we haven't been through a break-up, ultimately feels sympathy and empathy with Adele and, let's face it, we all hope to find 'someone like' this special 'you'. Love is our global connecting thread and said to be the essence of life and Adele has undoubtedly captured all the delicacy, innocence and purity of a first love which 'sometimes lasts but sometimes hurts instead'...Listening to "Someone Like You" always brings memories from our pasts, always makes us feel like we want to call back our ex, like falling in love again and to some, can even be a tears-getter... All in all, this is a clear reminder than LOVE is powerful and that we, young and less-young, all feel the need to love and be loved in return. Adele, beautiful Adele, keep singing with such passion and simplicity. Mauritius clearly loves you, your voice, your songs... P.S. "I wish nothing but the best for you" for this New Year and I do hope "it lasts in love" for you all... Sine Cera |
