Hey readers! MODE-K is finally back but only to bid farewell for another few months. As soon as this year's #SummerInStyle drew to an end, I literally had no time to work on the blog. I did mention about my #WinterInStyle feature but then exams, holidays abroad, coming back and getting ready for my next adventure - I'll be blogging about it, no worries! Anyhow, here's what is going to be the only #WinterInStyle feature this winter: Inverness Winter. Enjoy! Where to start... everything is on top of one another in my mind at the moment. I am literally putting these words down between packing, trimming my beard and eating! My flight leaves in a few hours and I am so late! First of all, winter goes hand in hand with layering - that you must know by now. I chose this time to use two traditional outerwear pieces, a River Island jumper and an H&M denim jacket, but used the jumper as innerwear. This fashion twist is one of the advantages of winter; and advantage that serves to add even more possible outfits to your wardrobe by increasing some of your outerwear pieces' versatility factor. For a refresher, go to The Equations of Fashion. Even though common sense would probably make you go for darker shades for your winter outerwear pieces, given Mauritius' particular climate where clouds flee only to let the sun do the same in a constant battle over who's going to complicate your dressing up process the most, I would recommend lighter colours. I picked a beige textured River Island jumper for £22 which I coupled with another light beige denim jacket which I was lucky to be lent that day for that shoot. I also picked my all-time favourite pair of jeans from Cotton On, Johannesburg. It's easy to wear and blend in, and most importantly, it protects against the cold. To style it up, I simply rolled up the hems, tightening the leg opening as I did. As accessories, I added a new brown leather belt which I also bought from River Island for £12 (sounds like a lot for a belt, but it's definitely worth it. It's really hard finding the right shade of brown to match your shoes, so whenever you luckily stumble upon one, just forget about the price tag and buy it.) For the shoes, I had the chance of finding those gorgeous brown leather brogues shoes from Clarks, ON SALE, for £30 - quite a steal! They are stylish, comfy and also very versatile. It works on anything from street casual to professional attire - as I hope to illustrate in the coming weeks. For another stylish twist, simply wear the jacket as a man-cape, as I did above. It can always dress you up in no time. Finally, as always, don't forget your sunglasses. I think I'm slowing growing out of them, I believe they are still perfectly usable and still in fashion - that's what you get when picking neutral black wayfarer type of sunglasses.
The new style add-on in this outfit is my black leather and silver plaited bracelet from Selfridges. I like the fact that my upper body accessories are all black and silver and my lower body are brown but with the same metalwork - silver.
